Donovaly is a popular destination for cyclists of all levels - from recreational riders to demanding mountain bikers. They are located on the border of Veľká Fatra and Low Tatras, which gives them an exceptional geographical location for cycling. The area offers a varied network of cycling routes - from comfortable asphalt roads through forest trails to challenging mountain trails. There are family-friendly circuits suitable for children, as well as adrenaline-pumping descents for experienced cyclists. Well-known routes lead for example to Šachticečka, Malý Šturec, Smrekovica or along the ridge of the Zvolen part of the mountain range.
The cycling routes are well marked, with information boards and maps in the terrain. In the area you will also find bicycle rentals (including e-bikes), service stations, bike racks and refreshment points. ROUTE DESCRIPTION:
Donovaly - Staré Hory
You start at Donovaly (850 m above sea level), pass through recreational parts and forest sections.
A pleasant descent leads down to the village of Staré Hory, famous for its pilgrimage church and the cave under the stone.
Staré Hory - Motyčky
From Staré Hory you continue through the forest asphalt road towards Motyčky, along the Motyčky reservoir.
The route follows a pleasant, little-traveled road, lined with forest.
Motyčky - Moštenica
The last section leads to Moštenica, known as a mining village below Prašivá. Here, history is combined with a beautiful view of the Low Tatras mountains.
